Travel smart with your mobile phone

I remember my college days; we had gone up north for a pharmacy tour. This also involved travelling to Kullu, Manali, Chandigarh and Delhi. Every new hotel that we checked in, involved calling my parents through the reception. This in itself was like was a scary task as the connection was cranky, half the words were lost, so I had to fill in whatever I could not hear and many times I jumped to the wrong conclusion. The poor me dint have a choice and suffered a mini heart attack every time the hotels presented the bill before checking out. They burnt a hole in my wallet. Even when I had called, the conversation stuck to the most practical points as I could almost see the bill shoot up in my head while I sat in my room struggling to speak through a bad connection.

Now when I look back it all seems like the prehistoric times, what with the phone lines being dead most of the time along with the cross connections. Nowadays we don’t just have mobile phones and rent free roaming, but also while roaming the incoming is just a notch higher than the local calls and the outgoing is also quiet reasonable. Money is not the only factor that’s important here, there’s also the flawless connectivity minus shrills and continuous voice breaks. With mobile phones the convenience and quick access in case of emergencies of any kind is amazing besides being economical and essential while travelling. Though ensuring that the mobile phone has network access where you are up and moving and the battery being charged is important. Let’s also include the SMS, and the camera (which is a common feature in almost all phones), comes in handy while travelling. Now it’s a night mare to step out of the house without your mobile phone.
Your phone can be put to many such uses, for more fun tips, check out MobileNXT.com

Dance to the tunes of Nokia N96

My first impression of the Nokia N96 was that it seems a cross over between the iPhone and the Nokia N95. Since I bought my Nokia online through MobileNXT.com, I got to examine it closely only after it was delivered home. On a closer look I realized that this mobile possessed the most intelligent features of both the phones, minus their not-so-happening-features.
Out here we will scrutinize the music part of it especially since it also covers the most loved feature of this phone, its 16GB memory…
This sleek Nokia mobile phone is compatible with Polyphonic, Monophonic, True tones and MP3s. The MP3 feature is the hot favorite as you can make playlists and add the tracks based on genres, artists, movies etc. Besides compiling of all your favorite songs there’s also a section that includes all the latest songs played, recent additions and the most played songs. So choosing the tracks to be played gets simplified, besides being quick.
With the equalizer feature, you can also set it on Bass booster, Classical, Jazz, Pop and Rock, ensuring that you enjoy all forms of music. Since this phone is a precursor of the N series of Nokia, the audio quality is exceptional, but then u can’t expect anything less from Nokia!
How can we forget the FM? This phone supports 20 radio stations (We don’t have that many in the city, but a t least you won’t miss out on any new radio stations...as and when they come upJ ) so you are always connected to the latest releases and local news. The Nokia N96 also sports a good loudspeaker, as in the sound doesn’t break and the voice throw is commendable so sharing your music or the conversation is a lot of fun.
So the next time you need a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, just plug in your N96 and let music take over.

Nokia N73..musically mine

Cant compromise with you music, then you have to own the Nokia N73. It’s just about any music lovers dream and since the day I have bought one, I have been zapped. Completely!!!
My Nokia N73 has an MP3 player that’s backed by 2GB microSD card. Though I have downloaded almost all my favorite tunes, there’s still some memory left:) . The music quality is phenomenal; even when I am in a noisy environment; the audio quality is brilliant enough to transport me into another world. Since I spend almost four hours of the day travelling in Mumbai locals, it’s my retreat from the chaos that ensues during that period. This mobile also has an inbuilt FM, though I am not able to utilize this much thanks to poor signals in the train. Once in a while it’s refreshing to hear those chirpy RJs and local news, but this remains restricted to my walk back home or when I am tired of my collection.
Another feature that I had missed in my pervious handset was a good loud speaker. This mobile has an impressive speaker phone with 3D surround sound. It makes it more fun to share music with friends and also the comfort to hear your phone ring loudly n clearly during an incoming call or SMS. Small pleasures of my life:). Talking about SMSs, this phone also features MMS and emails. Another cool feature is that you can copy and paste messages, though other Nokia phones also had this feature, I was lately enlightened by a friend about it. Since then I have found messaging a lot more fun.
Now we get to its camera…its 3.2MP with autofocus, LED flash, the works... Its fun to click and editing the results of my photographic urges has kept me happily engaged for hours. The results are brilliant, despite the fact that I am not very nimble with my fingers, I am able to boast of some beautiful images that I managed to capture all thanks to this little dedicated key for the camera.
This gizmo has internet connectivity, but I haven’t ever utilized that for some reasons…maybe I dint feel the need for it. With the astounding music quality, a brilliant camera and superb messaging features, I have been toooooo satisfied to ask for something more.
You can have a closer at this camera on MobileNXT.com

My new Nokia N96

Nokia N96 is here, but without the ‘in your face’ and loud marketing and yet it’s made its presence felt. Since the time I bought one, I have understood why. This little device goes by the standard of action speaks louder than words. Coming from Nokia, the market leaders in mobiles in India, it carries the reliability and trust that Nokia has maintained with its users. Let me tell you why I am so nuts about my new handset.
16GB internal memory which can be expanded by 8GB using a micro SD card
Did your jaws drop? Mine definitely did when I heard of this feature. As in, 16 GB is enough to make any one freak out on the possibilities of data storage, but imagine expanding it…Too good to be true.
5MP auto focus camera
There was another phone (I am sure you know which one I am talking about) that was launched with so much of pomp and show, bragging of some amazing features and fizzled out as it had some poor features including a camera of 2MP at an atrocious price. But not my Nokia, it’s arrived in style with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and powerful dual flash LED flash. Besides delivering beautiful pictures, it also records videos with VGA resolution at 30 fps.
Astounding audio quality
I love my music and so I love my N96. This little device has FM radio with RDS and to top that it has an MP3 player, ensuring that I have a blast while listening to music, brilliant audio quality and vast memory space enrich my experience.
Comfortable web browsing
With HSDPA and Wi-Fi, MY Nokia N96 enables a complete web experience with full page viewing. I can also download data, open attachments and remain connected via emails.
The two way slide
I saw a two way slide in a mobile for the first time and I was floored. It made operating the phone really cool and simple. I am no fan of touch screens, as I am not that nimble with my fingers so the well place key pad makes it easy for me to go about operating my N96.
The cute stand
This may seem a bit dumb to some people but find the stand really cute and propping my mobile on it to view my images and videos is quite a lot of fun for me.
Actually the list can go on…for those who still curious about this..log on to ..MobileNXT.com

My new dual SIM phone

In college, I was delighted when my parents gifted me a new mobile phone. It was all I could ask for, as I had been feeling terribly left out. Barring me, my whole gang had a mobile. Better late than never!!! A few days down the line, everyone had my number from my relatives to my neighbors. But god was in a good mood and as soon as I got employed I was rewarded with a new number, the best part was that the company would pay the bill. Awesome:) Till it sunk in that this meant pooling in money for a new mobile and above all handling two mobiles. I couldn’t quit my first number, everyone had it as I had been using it for three year and the new number was already on my visiting card. Damn!!! Damn!!! Damn!!! I had heard of dual SIM phones, but I wasn’t sure if they would be feature rich and what if they charged a bomb?I googled and came across mobileNXT.com. They had an entire range of dual SIM phones .Nice!!! I placed an order for Bleu 470x. If the convenience of getting the phone home delivered for just Rs.2 was not enough, the phone turned out to be a dream. Both my SIM’s are active at the same time, both have separate phone books, and the best part (though not so useful) I can call from one number to the other, within the mobile. Feature wise also the phone is well endowed. It has an MP3 player, an inbuilt FM, a 0.3 MP camera and the memory can be expanded to 1GB. WOW!! The icing on the cake…I could do away with handling two bulky handsets and instead flaunt this sleek phone and that too at an unbelievable price.Wanna check it out for yourself… check out MobileNXT.com

Nokia N96..Arrives

Talk about looking forward to owning a phone with awaited breath…that’s exactly how I am feeling as of now. My mind is reeling from the after effects of seeing the phone in action. The phone is beautiful in every possible way.
Coming from the N series, the phone has a rich sound quality (actually that goes without saying). 16GB of internal memory is sufficient to store all your data, but people who are hungry for more; they can expand it by 8GB using a micro SD card and if even that doesn’t meet your expectations, then heaven help you!! There’s also FM radio with RDS…just in case you still want more music. The brilliance is not restricted to the music. It also has a 5 MP camera with auto focus and double flash. Another thing that I liked about this phone is that it’s a dual slide. As in sliding the lower part gets you the keypad and the upper half has all the options for the camera. The pictures and video clips can be viewed in the landscape mode. There’s also Video recording where you can record videos at a speed of 20fps. I discovered something new in this phone and that was a cute little stand. Perched on this stand the mobile gives you a good view of all the images and clips. The front VGA is as of now dormant, at least till the 3G technology is launched in our country.
Its quiet obvious that a phone of this range will be internet enabled but what comes as a pleasant surprise is that it downloads data pretty fast. You can view full pages and the screen is large enough to allow a good read, without squinting. The design is also sleek, though it could have been a bit slimmer.
With a perfect balance in music and camera features, this phone has left other smart phones far behind.

HTC Touch Diamond

Want a mobile phone that has class and substance ???Then you need to grab the HTC touch Diamond.
With most of the gizmo freaks, this handset is quite a favorite, and for a good reason. I checked out this handset from top to bottom and was quite impressed with what I saw. Here are a few features that deserve a mention.

Camera
The phone has two different cameras. The front VGA camera is quite useless as of now, since video calling is yet not available in India, but the 3.15 MP camera makes up for that. At 2048x1536 pixels, it has auto focus and video recording. The images delivered beautiful. Though, with the absence of LED flash, photography is restricted to day light.
Window Professional 6.1 and browsing

The phone runs Window Professional 6.1, which help you with your office work. Also you can browse the web, view full pages, download data and as the phone is a touch screen you can do all this really easily. The phone has been marketed as a business phone and it deserves the tag. This device also connects you to your office via emails.

The stylus is also unique. The moment you take it out the phone wakes up from the sleep mode. Inserting the stylus is also effortless, as it is magnetic, so smoothly slips in.

The MP3 player combined with the 4 GB memory delivers brilliant performance.
With the touch screen, MP3 player and web browsing feature, comparison of this phone with the iPhone is inevitable. For a closer look at this phone and other phones of this category, log on to

There are those for whom music is any sound they hear while they have nothing else to do; for them any music phone will do. And then there are people for whom music is an indulgence that they will not compromise with. The iPhone is for them. With this phone, the music is just a tap away (literally!!).With its multi touch technology tap the phone and let the music take over. As the memory is enough (in fact at 8GB and 16GB, it’s the talk of the town) you can have your own musical world to play around with. Since the phone has hi-speed internet accessibility, you can even listen to the latest songs online and download your favorites, all with a few taps on the phone. The sound quality of the iPhone is said to be phenomenal, you can hear the same song with different effects. Though the phone lacks an inbuilt FM, the feature goes unnoticed thanks to the mass storage capacity. The iPhone is for those who love to hear their favorite songs at its musical best, a luxury that they cannot do without.Want a closer look at the iPhone, click here

Browse with the iPhone

iPhone by Apple, was initially only a music phone, but now its finding a lot of takers among the business class. Reason being it brilliant browsing speed thanks to 3G and enabled Wi-Fi ;coupled with easy to operate features. iPhone- pure magic

iPhone is just everywhere. For days it has been the talk of the town. The enthusiasm with which people have awaited its arrival is infectious. Almost every cell phone enthusiast is talking about it . In fact, the first time I saw a video that showed this gizmo’s functions, I felt like a small child watching a magician at work. I am still in awe of its unusual features.

The iPhone is any mobile geeks dream come true. This device is well balanced in terms of music, internet connectivity and the regular cell phone features. The coolest part is the multi touch technology; the speed with which it responds is phenomenal… It’s like accessing a different world all with a single touch. The music part of the phone is its highlight (actually too many highlights, this one’s just a notch higher than the others).Songs can be sorted out based on the artist, album, playlist and you can smoothly scroll through the songs. The sound quality... you have to hear it to believe it…

The 2 MP camera… well….Nothing much to talk about seeing its price, but since its more of a music phone, this minor flaw can be overlooked. But another interesting thing about this phone is the picture gallery. Not only can you spin through the pictures easily, but also enlarge them by touching the screen and expanding. The screen not just displays the color brilliantly but also remains vertical even on rotating the mobile. This is all based on 'motion sensor technology'. If you juggle the phone, you will get to see the menu getting distorted and then fall back in place. The voice mail is different from the others, as here, if there is more than one voice mail; you can choose the one that you want to hear, unlike the others where you are compelled to hear them in a particular order.

The internet facility also deserves a mention, as the speed is brilliant and very simple to use. As the display is sufficiently large, you can view the pages clearly.I guess i said enough. For more on the iPhone click on MobileNXT

Browse Away with Sony Ericsson G502

My first impression of the Sony Ericsson G502 wasn’t that great. It’s seemed like any another mobile phone that’s going to join the group of phones that are bragging about all the happening features at atrocious prices. But I was in for a surprise…and that too, a pleasant one.
This small black phone is among the first of the G series to be launched in India. But the good thing is that this phone has a commendable web browser and internet support…and that too at a rate that’s affordable…Unlike a few similar devices that boast of hi tech function but ensure that you feel giddy when you get the bill.
The internet thing is quite something. As it’s powered by Turbo 3G, the internet speed is awesome. Opening pages, downloading, all of that is a smooth sail even on heavy sites. The internet advantage doesn’t end here; you can use the pointer as a mouse and click. In a way, it is sufficient to cater to our internet generation. And I want to mention its economical rate again, this phone deserves it.
The construction of the phone shows that a lot of thought has been put in to make it simple and easy to use. The keys are small but aptly placed (the girls will find it a bit easier to use than men, as they are blessed with thinner fingers and consciously grown longer nails). Musically also, this phone has all the attributes of a typical Sony Ericsson phone, as in its brilliant sound quality and the same goes for the 2 MP camera. The video recording features are also interesting in regards to features which include forwarding, rewinding and viewing clips in slow motion.

shop smart

Initially, we Indians were highly skeptical about shopping online. Habituated to touching and feeling everything that we bought, we were a little hesitant about buying goods, just by looking at its image. Hence shopping was done directly from stores. With time we have started dabbling into this new mode of shopping, though a little cautiously. Shopping portals took this hint and have come up with innovative ideas to give their users near store experience. One of such portals being Mobilenxt.com.Though still be at a teething stage, this site is breaking grounds in order to keep its users captivated and indulging them with comfortable yet intelligent means of mobile shopping.
Bearing this in mind, it has come up with a new section, the mobilenxt gallery. This section provides a bird’s eye view at all the phones on the site, which is as close as it can get to viewing mobiles which are displayed at a store (you know… ” The near store experience”). The devices are placed brand wise, back to back. Almost all mobiles hitting the market can be found on this page, aptly placed for a quick glance. All one has to do is select a mobile, click and read its details. If a number of mobiles catch your eye, then zeroing in on a single piece may take some thinking. Under such a scenario, you can resort to the ‘compare’ option. Add all the mobiles that you are pondering over into the compare section and each mobile appears with its specifications, in sync with their features. Even in a store, it can’t get better than this. With this simple step, you don’t just simplify mobile shopping, but also choose wisely.

Evolution of mobiles.

There was a time when we had to wait for months and at times years to get a landline number. At that point possessing a landline number was not just means of luxury but also a status symbol. Huge, bulky phones adorned the most noticeable corners of our home. This was followed by the mobile phone, which was initially viewed with wonder and amazement, as this not just gave you wireless connectivity but a personalized number in just a few hours. The comfort of being available any time anywhere coupled with the relief of being connected while you were on the go was unrivaled by the telephone.

With time, the expectations from a mobile phone started increasing such that restricting its use to only receive calls and messaging became a highly boring and mundane task. Bit by bit, this little gizmo started catering to various other tasks like featuring inbuilt FM and MP3 which were later joined by inbuilt camera. The icing on the cake was the internet accessibility. The net result is that a tiny gizmo measuring barely few centimeters encloses a digital camera, FM transmitter, MP3 player, internet accessibility along with the facility to stay connected via voice calls.

But engaging a hand for holding a mobile can also be a hindrance, especially while performing a task that requires both the hands. But hands free and headsets have proved to be a comfortable option. It doesn’t end here, with compatible speakers; you can enjoy the assortment of songs in your mobile phones, with brilliant sound quality. Wireless Bluetooth have also hit the market. With time, the mobile market is flooded with various accessories with a new addition almost every day. To check some of the best available accessories click on the link below.

Portable Bluetooth Speaker

For those with an ear for good music, this one is for you. Living by the standards of ‘small is big’, this Bluetooth portable speaker by Sony Ericsson ensures that music is omnipresent.
Using this Bluetooth speaker is very simple. All you have to do is pair it with the Bluetooth of your mobile phone that is compatible with the speaker or your lap top and let the melody take over your senses. Even with the petite size, the Blue tooth speaker delivers a powerful performance, with brilliant audio, clear sound and deep bass. Being extremely light weight and portable, you can carry it along, where ever you go. The inbuilt A2DP ensures flow of high quality stereo music from your phone. Even at a distance of 10 meters, you get flawless dose of your favorite music.
Bluetooth speaker is accompanied by a charger. A minor flaw with this device is that you have to remain in a range of 10M with the parent gizmo.
